Accepting Acuity Scheduling payments in person with Stripe

Enter your customer's payment information using the mobile admin app.

If you use Stripe as your Acuity payment processor, you can collect payments and tips for appointments using the Acuity Scheduling Admin mobile app. Clients can pay for appointments using any of the following payment methods:

• Credit card
• Cash 
• Tap to Pay 
• Using a paired Stripe M2 reader

This is helpful if you’re booking appointments in person at an event, over the phone, or at the end of an appointment. If you’re using Square to collect payments for appointments, visit Accepting Acuity payments in person with Square. 

Note: To accept tips in the mobile admin app, ensure tipping is enabled.

Set up Tap to Pay

Use Tap to Pay for contactless payments using these accepted payment methods, or with a device that supports NFC-based mobile wallets include Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay.

To use Tap to Pay, you must be: 

• Based in the US and taking payment in US dollars.
• Using version 18.0 or later of the Acuity Scheduling Admin mobile app.
• Using a phone and operating system that supports Tap to Pay. For Apple, that's an iPhone XS or later running iOS 16.0 or later. For Android, that's a phone with NFC capability running Android 10 or later.

Enable Tap to Pay

To enable Tap to Pay:

1. Open the mobile admin app. 
2. Tap Enable Now in the pop-up that appears. 
3. Tap Next. If you're using an iOS device, tap Continue with this Apple ID to complete the setup. 
4. Optional: To test Tap to Pay, tap Try a test transaction. To exit the setup window, tap Maybe later. You can also test a transaction at any time from the Payment Settings panel.

You can also enable Tap to Pay at any time in your app's Payment settings:

1. From the app home screen, tap Menu then tap Payment Settings. 
2. In the Tap to Pay window, tap Enable. 
3. Tap a business location from the dropdown menu. You can always change this later. 

Change Apple IDs

To connect Tap to Pay with a different Apple ID: 

1. From the app home screen, tap Menu then tap Payment Settings. 
2. Tap the Tap to Pay on iPhone switch off. 
3. Open a mobile browser window on your device and copy and paste this URL into the search bar: https://register.apple.com/tap-to-pay-on-iphone/dash.  
4. Locate the Merchant ID created by Stripe and remove it. 
5. Return to your payment settings in the Acuity Scheduling Admin mobile app and tap Enable, then select the correct Apple ID. 

Connect a Stripe M2 reader

Connect a Stripe M2 card reader so you can take payment using these accepted payment methods, or with a device that supports NFC-based mobile wallets include Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay.

To use the Stripe M2 card reader, you must:

• Be based in the 50 US states or Puerto Rico and taking payment in US dollars. 
• Using version 18.0 or later of the Acuity Scheduling Admin mobile app.
• Using a supported device and operating system. For Apple, that's an iPhone XS or later running iOS 16.0 or later. For Android, that's a device with NFC capability running Android 10 or later.

Note: You may be able to use devices and operating systems older than those listed above if you only use the magnetic stripe card reader or chip card reader features. To learn more, contact Stripe Support.

To connect the reader:

1. Ensure the reader is fully charged and turned on.
2. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled in your device's settings.
3. From the app home screen, tap Menu, then tap Payment Settings.
4. In the reader section, tap Connect.
5. Tap Connect Reader.
6. You'll be reminded to charge and turn on your reader. Tap Next.
7. The Acuity Scheduling Admin app will automatically detect the reader if Bluetooth is enabled. Tap the reader to select it, then tap Pair.
8. Tap to select a location, then tap Continue.
9. Allow the reader to pair with your device, then tap Done when the connection is complete.

Note: The reader that you last paired will appear first when you go to take payment. Tap More options to select a different reader at checkout.

Take payment

To collect payment for an appointment:

1. From the app home screen, tap the appointment you want to collect ‌payment for. 
2. Tap Start checkout.

Tip: You can also start the checkout process for appointments that occurred in the past eight hours, are currently happening, or are happening up to 10 hours from that moment from the checkout tab.

3. You can include add-ons or a gift certificate, package, or discount code:
   • Tap Add-ons, tap the add-ons you want to add, then tap Apply. 
   • Tap Code. Select a code from the list, or use the search bar to find a specific code, then tap Apply.
   • To remove a code or add-on, on the Checkout screen, swipe left then tap the trash can icon. 
4. Tap Next, then select a payment option:
   • Tap Tap to Pay on iPhone. If tipping is enabled, the client can choose to add a tip, then tap Next. Hold the accepted payment method by the device until the payment is processed. 
   • Tap Card Reader. If tipping is enabled, the client can choose to add a tip then tap Make payment. Tap, swipe, or insert a credit card into the reader until the payment is processed. 
   • Tap Credit Card, then select a card on file, or add a new credit card, then tap Continue. If ​​tipping is enabled, the client can choose to add a tip, then tap Complete Payment. 
   • Tap Cash, enter the amount and payment description, then tap Record Payment. You can send an appointment receipt for a cash payment if receipts for client payments is enabled.
   • Tap Share Payment Link to send a link to your client using your device’s built-in share apps, like text message, email, or other messaging apps.

Note: If you enabled receipts for client payments through the scheduler, the Send email receipt box is checked by default. Uncheck the box if you don’t want to send a receipt.
