Customize the text on your client scheduling page and embedded scheduler.
Change the wording on your site to match your tone and branding, or to better match the way your business operates. This guide explains how to use our tool for updating your scheduler’s wording and explains what can and can’t be changed.
What can be changed
Most of the text on your scheduler can be changed, but not all.
Scheduler-specific text
Most of the text on the scheduler that isn’t drawn from elsewhere in Acuity can be edited. To check if a piece of text can be edited, open the change scheduler wording tool, enter edit mode, and hover your mouse over the text. If a blue outline appears, you can edit the text.
Text pulled from other parts of Acuity
Some of the text on your scheduler is automatically populated from other parts of Acuity. Instead of using the change scheduler wording tool, edit them in their respective settings. Examples of these types of text include:
- Business name
- Scheduling instructions
- Appointment type names and descriptions
- Category names
- Package names and descriptions
Customize the wording on your scheduler
Note: You can only customize your scheduler’s wording using a web browser on a computer. It’s not possible to customize the text using the mobile app or a mobile web browser.
To customize text on your scheduler:
- In Acuity, click Scheduling Page. A preview of your scheduler will open.
- Navigate through the preview to the part of the scheduler you want to edit.
- Click Edit Text in the top-left corner of the preview. You can now click buttons and links to edit them without navigating further through the scheduler.
- Hover your mouse over the text you want to change. If a blue box appears around the text, you can edit it.
- Click the text to begin editing. Depending on the specific text you’re editing, either a cursor will appear in the text, allowing you to replace it, or an editor will appear with a text field you can use to edit the text.
- When you’ve edited the text the way you want, hit the Enter key or click away.
- Repeat steps 4 to 6 until you’ve customized everything you want to change on a particular part of the scheduler, then click Save in the top-left corner of the preview.
Customizing specific parts of your scheduler
To update the wording on a specific part of your scheduler, you need to navigate to the area you want to change in the Preview panel, which shows your main public client scheduling page.
To access some specific areas of your scheduler for editing, you need to temporarily change your Acuity settings so that the areas show up in the Preview panel for editing. After you’re done customizing the scheduler text, remember to revert your settings.
Classes template
To edit the wording on the classes template:
- Update your appointment types so that all non-class appointment types are private.
- Follow the steps to enable the classes template.
- Use the change scheduler wording tool as normal.
- Undo the changes you made in steps 1 and 2.
No scheduling allowed message
When no appointments are available at all, Acuity displays a message letting clients know that they can’t book online.
The default message is “Online scheduling is not currently available.”
To customize the wording of this message:
- Temporarily edit all your appointment types to be private.
- Use the change scheduler wording tool as normal.
- Undo the changes you made in step 1.
No times available message
When clients are looking at a date range that doesn’t have any slots available, Acuity displays a message letting them know the time period they’ve picked doesn’t have any openings.
You don’t need to change any settings to edit this message.
To customize the default message, open the change scheduler wording tool and click the time and date picker. You can use the editor that appears to change the wording of this message.
Confirmation page
To customize the confirmation page that displays after clients book, you’ll need to follow steps similar to testing your scheduler.
- Create a new appointment type with a price of $0.
- In the Preview panel, book this new appointment type.
- When you get to the confirmation page, use the change scheduler wording tool as normal.
- After saving your changes, delete both your test appointment and your test appointment type.
Character limits
The text fields you can edit have character limits:
- Clickable items like buttons and dropdown menus - 50 characters
- All other editable text fields - 100 characters
If you leave a field empty, Acuity’s default text will reappear.
