Buying packages, gift certificates, and subscriptions

Purchase booking codes and use them to schedule appointments.

When clients purchase packages, gift certificates, and subscriptions, they'll receive unique codes that they can redeem to pay for your services. They can purchase them from your site, or you can buy and send them to your clients. 

Note: The instructions below include links to Acuity settings separated by the kind of account you use to log into Acuity. Which kind of account do I have?

How clients buy packages, gift certificates, and subscriptions

Clients can buy packages, gift certificates, and subscriptions from the store page. They can access the store page using a direct link, or they can click View Products & Packages on the scheduling page. 

Note: If you haven't been migrated to the new scheduling experience, this process might look slightly different on your scheduling page.

On the store page, clients can access their cart and view any existing items that they added by clicking Your Cart in the top-right. 

Note: The cart feature is separate from the checkout page for Squarespace Commerce.

When a client buys a package, gift certificate, or subscription, they:

1. Click Add to Cart next to the package, gift certificate, or subscription they want to purchase.
2. To add more items to their cart, they can click Products & Packages in the top-left corner of the order page, then select another package, gift certificate, or subscription.
3. On the cart page, the client can:
   1. Enter their first and last names, email address, and phone number. 
   2. Click to expand the Add note to business field to include a note with the order.  
   3. View the order summary and total amount due. They can use the adjust the quantity of each item or delete any items they don't want anymore. 
   4. Apply a code, if they have one, in the Coupon code field. 
4.  If no payment is required, clients are directed to the confirmation page. If they need to make a payment, the client can enter their payment details, then click Confirm Purchase. 
5. From the confirmation page, clients can click Use [Package, Gift Certificate, Subscription] to use the code immediately. When clients purchase multiple items, click … to apply the code. They can also find the code later in the automated email they receive. 
6. Optional: If the client purchased a gift certificate and wants to print it, they can click View Gift Certificate and then print the gift certificate page.  

Tip: Encourage clients to create a client account with your business, so they can keep track of their active package, gift certificate, or subscription codes.

Buy packages, gift certificates, or subscriptions for your clients 

To buy a package, gift certificate, or subscription for your client:

1. Open the Calendar panel: I log in with an Acuity account | I log in with a Squarespace account. 
2. Click the Add New dropdown menu, then select Order.
3. Select a package, gift certificate, or subscription.
4. Enter the client’s name and email address.
5. Select a payment method. You can mark the payment as cash, use a stored card, or enter a new card, depending on your payment settings.
6. At the bottom, click Pay Now. The client will receive an order confirmation email with their unique code.

Keep in mind that if you marked the payment as cash for a subscription, there needs to be a valid payment method on file for the subscription to renew. To add a payment method on file for a subscription, edit the subscription. The client can also update their payment information through a link in their confirmation email.

Note: If you use Square as your payment processor, Acuity won't be able to store SCA-affected card numbers when you enter them for your client. If you enter an SCA-affected card number when selling a subscription, Acuity will process the initial purchase, but recurring payments will fail until the client enters their card. This doesn't affect card numbers clients enter through the scheduler.

Create and send a free package, gift certificate, or subscription code

You can create and send a free package, gift certificate, or subscription code directly to the client. To send a free code:

1. Open the Packages, gifts & subscriptions panel: I log in with an Acuity account | I log in with a Squarespace account.
2. Click Edit for the package, gift certificate, or subscription you want to send to the client.
3. Click Add code.
4. Optional: Use the dropdown menu to assign the code to a specific client account or email address.
5. Click Add code.

Note: Keep in mind that this process won’t trigger an automated email.
