Integrating Acuity Scheduling with Squarespace Email Campaigns

Connect Acuity with Squarespace Email Campaigns to automatically invite your Acuity clients to join a mailing list. Clients opt in through an intake form question during booking. With Email Campaigns, you send marketing emails to multiple clients. These emails are separate from automated Acuity email notifications, which update individual clients about their appointments.

You can integrate Squarespace Email Campaigns with Acuity if you log in with a Squarespace account. It's not possible to connect Squarespace Email Campaigns with Acuity if you log in with an Acuity account. Which kind of account do I have?

Before you begin

  • Squarespace Email Campaigns is a paid subscription you can add to your standalone Acuity subscription or to a website with Acuity. All new site and Acuity subscriptions start with a free Email Campaigns trial.
  • You can't integrate a standalone Acuity subscription with an Email Campaigns subscription that's already attached to a different website.

Set up the integration

To enable the Email Campaigns integration:

  1. In Acuity, click Integrations.
  2. Beneath Squarespace Email Campaigns, click Set up.
  3. Click Connect to Squarespace Email Campaigns.

At this point, if any of your clients are already Squarespace contacts, their appointment details will appear in Squarespace whenever they schedule a new appointment or update an existing appointment.

To collect new contacts, continue setting up the integration:

  1. Select a mailing list. If you don’t have any, we’ll create a default mailing list for you.
  2. Create an intake form, then add a checkbox question or yes/no question asking clients if they'd like to join your mailing list.
  3. Return to the integration window and select the question you created in step 2.
  4. Click Save.
Note: To sign clients up for your mailing list, use a checkbox question or a yes/no question. A checkbox list question won’t work.

Change the connected mailing list and form question

To edit the integration settings:

  1. In Acuity, click Integrations.
  2. In the Email Marketing section, find Squarespace Campaigns and click Set Up.
  3. Change the mailing list or Acuity form question you chose.
  4. Click Save.

Mailing lists from Acuity

If you haven’t set up Email Campaigns before setting up this integration, you'll start with a default mailing list. You can rename the list or create a new list. For steps on managing your mailing lists, visit Building mailing lists.

How clients opt into your mailing list

Clients can opt into your mailing list by checking the box or selecting Yes on the intake form when booking an appointment.

When clients who make at least a partial payment or book using a code (such as from a package or coupon) opt-in to your mailing list, and they're added immediately.

When clients who book free appointments or opt to pay the entire appointment cost later opt-in to your mailing list, they receive a confirmation email before being added. After they confirm, they're added to your mailing list.

Each mailing list entry includes the client's first name, last name, and email address.

Find Acuity clients in the Contacts panel

In your Contacts panel, entries for your Acuity clients include their past and upcoming appointments. In the Lists & segments panel, your Acuity clients who have opted in to receiving campaigns pre-loads as a smart segment, called Acuity Subscribers. 

Disconnect the Email Campaigns integration

To disconnect Email Campaigns from Acuity: 

  1. In Acuity, click Integrations
  2. Find Squarespace Email Campaigns in your list of integrations, then click Edit
  3. Click Disconnect Squarespace Campaigns Account, then click Ok
