Collect payment for appointments by charging a client’s card

Settle up with clients after their appointment to get paid for your services.

To collect payments for unpaid appointments, you can charge a client's saved card or enter a new one. After the payment is processed, the appointment payment status updates to Paid.

What do I need to charge a card?

To charge a card after booking, you must have Stripe or Square connected to Acuity. If you also have a PayPal account connected, the link still works, but payments are always processed through Stripe or Square.

What are the limits on charging a card?

  • Maximum charge - You can charge up to 150% of the total appointment cost (to add tips or other fees).
  • You can only charge for appointments, not packages, gift certificates, subscriptions.

Charge a card

To charge the client's card and collect payment for the appointment:

  1. Open the Calendar panel.
  2. Click the appointment to open the appointment details, then click Make Payment.
  3. Select a card already on file, or enter a new card.
  4. Enter the payment amount.
  5. Click Pay.
